The US House of Representatives voted 355 to 21 today to open an investigation into whether Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games intentionally deceived the Entertainment Software Ratings Board to avoid an “Adults -Only” rating for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. This means that an official Federal Trade Commission investigation will soon be underway and Rockstar and Take-Two may be fined by the federal government over the infamous “hot coffee” modification for San Andreas.
The “hot coffee” modification first emerged about a month ago when hackers discovered hidden, inactive code inside the PC version of San Andreas that allows gamers to participate in a sex minigame after completing the dating missions. Soon it was discovered that the code was also included in the console versions and could be activated using GameShark and Action Replay codes. The additional content drew fire from several politicians including Sen. Hillary Clinton.
More hereDo you think this is over the top? Was the hacker wrong to unlock the area that was not shown in normal gaming? Or Rockstar should have made sure that it was removed from the game?
Discuss!

I don't think it really matters. Americans are way to sensitive over sex and nudity, they allow cutting people up with chainsaws limb by limb, but some simulated sex with clothes on is soooooo bad that the people who made it should be arrested!

I think it was stupid to put it in - I think they knew someone would find it - but I dont think they deserve this. It was locked and you had to do a lot to find it from what I have read. It wasnt like a usual easter egg where you enter a code and see the credits or something.

Well, thats what they are trying to establish. Was it because they wanted people to find the game, or because someone forgot to delete the code of a removed feature?

I guess they should. Not like it matters though - if they ban it we can just buy from New Zealand or dl it.

But if you already have the game or if you get it from another country, is it illegal to actually PLAY it?

I know, I'm just curious if Australia is really that stupid. By the way, you'd be surprised how many useless laws there are in the world.

I actually think this was a dumb decision. Let the game be put back on the shelves and sold to us all.. We want San Andreas!!! And, Hot Coffee wasn't accessible in the game, without hacking, modding, and all that, so I think this was way too unfair.

Well it was a bit risky of Rockstar to implament it in the first place but still think what they are doing is overkill since you'd need to cheat to get to it anyway. And well it's overkill anyway imo
